Partner 11: Danmarks Tekniske Universitet

Partner description

DTU is ranked as one of the foremost technical universities in Europe. DTU Management Engineering is one of the largest university departments in Europe specialising in competitiveness, productivity, quantitative sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship and has around 300 international employees, hereof 85 PhD students. The Quantitative Sustainability Assessment (QSA) group develops science-based methods and tools for decision support within environmental sustainability and has extensive experience in all aspects of chemicals in the environment and their impacts on ecosystems. QSA obtains funding from authorities, industry and research funds and have coordinated and participated in many EU FP6/FP7 and other international projects.

Role in the project

DTU is partner and will be co-leader of WP 6. In addition, DTU is involved in WP2, WP4, WP5 and WP7, namely on tasks 2.2 (PPP distribution and accumulation in ecosystems, plants,
animals and humans), 2.5 (innovative and sustainable land management practices), 5.1 (data mining for upscaling), 5.3 (health impact assessment) and tasks 7.1-7.3 (lock-ins and barriers in the existing farming systems, transition paths to more sustainable plant production).

Involved personnel

Olivier Jean Jolliet — Welcome to DTU Research Database

Prof. Jolliet is Full Professor in the Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering. He was heading the Impact and Risk Modeling Laboratory (iMod) at the School of Public Health, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (US), developing and applying to emergent technology and contaminants new models and impact assessment methods in (a) multi-media fate and exposure modeling, (b) Physiologically-Based ToxicoKinetic modeling and (c) Sustainability and Life Cycle Impacts Assessment. His research and teaching programs aim to assess environmental risks and impacts of chemicals and of innovative technologies.

Farshad Soheilifard

Dr. Farshad Soheilifard is a postdoctoral researcher with focus on quantifying environmental emissions and impacts of pesticides on the environment, and life cycle assessment of farming systems.
